I had the privilege of delivering a VIP presentation on the future of naval warfare, where I emphasised that securing our maritime domain requires strategic investment in next-generation vessels, robust missile defence systems, and strong cyber resilience.

In today’s rapidly evolving threat landscape—where challenges are both dynamic and digital—Africa’s navies must modernise or risk being left behind. I urged leaders to view ships not merely as assets, but as agile platforms for integrated operations. Our missile defence and cyber capabilities must advance alongside fleet upgrades to create true maritime deterrence.

Modernisation is no longer optional; it is mission-critical. Our fleets must be ready, resilient, and responsive to safeguard the Blue Economy and ensure regional security.

This is the blueprint for what comes next in African naval defence.
